Introducing the Cosmic Fish Twin, a tribute to the beloved original Southern California Fish design that captured the hearts of many in the early '70s.
Over the decades, we've witnessed various iterations of this iconic design, each bringing its own excitement and generating a lot of buzz for its fun, versatility, and performance in both small and head-high wave conditions.
In collaboration with Jordy, SMTH decided to experiment with different design elements, fine-tuning the outline plane shape to provide ample volume upfront. With a wider nose and wide-point slightly forward of center, these subtle adjustments make the Cosmic Fish Twin highly versatile, whether you're tackling slop or enjoying good waves. Additionally, we reduced the width and incorporated a straighter outline in the tail, resulting in exceptional speed!
The bottom contour features a single concave that seamlessly transitions into a strong and deep double concave. This configuration allows for maximum release, facilitating smooth transitions in and out of turns.
Jordy's vision for the Cosmic Fish Twin involved striking a perfect balance between looseness and control during powerful turns and tight arcs in the pocket. To achieve this, we slightly flattened the bottom rocker curve and added a tail-flip, allowing the board to fit snugly in the pocket for enhanced stability, particularly in punchy beach breaks.
