Introducing the Ei8hty8, a cutting-edge surfboard model designed for tackling "deep water" waves. This board is the result of Jordy's year-long exploration and development on the tour, specifically honed for epic sessions on the North Shore, Margaret River, and his home breaks in J.Bay. We took the best elements from various file designs and fused them into one remarkable shape.
What sets the Ei8hty8 apart is its versatility across different rider weights. We tested the board with Jordy on a 34L volume and Mathew on a 28L volume, allowing us to incorporate Mathew's dimensions scale and cater to a broader range of free surfers, both heavier and lighter weight performers.
In the shaping room, Jordy meticulously fine-tuned the outlines, concave, and rails to achieve a sensitive and flowing rail that effortlessly drives through sections without any catching or bogging, even when pushing hard off the tail at high speeds. Control is paramount at all times.
The bottom contour features a natural rocker with a forgiving nose entry, transitioning into a single concave that runs through the bottom deck and intensifies into a pronounced double concave between your feet. This configuration enhances water flow, providing greater lift and control, even in choppy waves.
The Ei8hty8 boasts a slightly narrower pulled-in tail with a straighter, longer tail rocker, enabling tight arcing turns, powerful hacks, and precise carving maneuvers. It's a high-performance shortboard that deserves a place in every surfer's quiver.
- Natural medium bottom curve offers a low to moderate entry rocker for quicker glide and speed.
- The eighty8 has its wide point slightly forward of centre but with a high-performance outline.
- hidden volume/litres along the centre and roll the top-deck towards the rail shoulder to engage the wave face. This adds all-around rail forgiveness but still keeping the rail responsive.
- An even single concave runs through the center getting deeper into a double concave through the fins generating speed and lift. This will enhanced lift allows for quick maneuvers.
